How to get your very own VDL e-mail address for free
• Why would you want a VDL e-mail address?
• Use it as a special address that you give to just your friends and relatives.
• Use it for business correspondence.
• Use it as your main e-mail account.
• Get a personal address for each family member.
• Tired of dealing with all the spam on your current address?
• Please don't use it as an address to give to vendors when you go e-shopping. This is where spam comes from. The webmaster can turn on a feature that filters spam, so if/when it becomes a problem we can turn it on.
• Send a request for a VDL e-mail account to webmaster@vdlhoa.org.
• Include the alias you want. The alias is the first part of the address before the @ symbol, for example; in the address bobandsally@vdlhoa.org, bobandsally is the alias. If the alias you want already exists (not very likely), the webmaster will advise you.
• The webmaster will create the account and address and send you notification when it is completed.
• The notification will include everything you need to know about how to set up and access the account. Your VDLHOA e-mail account is called POP3 which con be used with regular e-mail clients like Outlook Express or can also be accessed on the Web. We have two Web clients available: Horde and SquirrelMail. I personally like SquirrelMail the best, but it's all personal preference.
• Once the account is set up, you are ready to go.
• There is a 10 MB size limit on Webmail mailboxes. This is imposed so we don't use up all of the storage space we have been allocated by our Web host. If you use a regular e-mail client like Outlook Express, this is not an issue because e-mail is downloaded directly to your PC rather than taking up storage space on the Web servers.
